Over two evenings on the 3rd and 9th of June 2026, residents gathered at Club Central Hurstville for our free Community Heart In Your Hands Essential CPR & AED Skills Workshop.

The sessions allowed attendees to learn practical skills that could help them respond to a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency. Participants learned when CPR and an AED should be used, how to perform CPR effectively, and how simple it can be to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when someone suffers from SCA.

With plenty of hands-on practice and discussion throughout the sessions, attendees were able to build confidence and ask questions in a supportive environment. For some, it was their first experience learning CPR and AED skills. Others attended as a refresher and welcomed the chance to revisit techniques and gain additional practice.

One of the most rewarding parts of the program was seeing the enthusiasm from attendees across both evenings. People came along wanting to learn, ask questions, and better understand how they could help in an SCA emergency. By the end of the sessions, many participants shared that they felt more prepared and confident than when they arrived.
"This training was excellent and exactly what I needed to be more confident in performing CPR and also using a defib. The trainers were approachable and easy to understand. Thank you to Club Central Hurstville for putting on such a life-saving event."

"Presenters were very welcoming and knew their stuff and were very receptive to the audience queries. I believe the time allocated to the session was adequate in that participants can stay back and ask questions post the presentation. And here I find the Presenters were once again very receptive 😊 Wish to thank the husband and wife Team - I would like to attend a repeat session if it were to be offered again."

We would like to thank Club Central Hurstville for partnering with us and providing the venue for these training sessions. Their support helped make it possible to offer this free training to the local community.
A big thank you also goes to our volunteers and club staff, whose time and dedication helped make the sessions such a success.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended. The strong turnout across both nights showed just how much interest there is in learning skills that can make a real difference.

Community Heart In Your Hands is all about giving everyday people the knowledge and confidence to step forward in an emergency. It was fantastic to see so many members of the community take part, and we look forward to delivering more sessions in the future.
