Diggers Miranda RSL Brings Community Together for Free CPR & AED Training

Our recent Community Heart In Your Hands AED & CPR training sessions, held across two evenings at Diggers Miranda RSL on 13 and 20 May 2026, were a huge success, with a fantastic turnout from the local community.

It was great to see so many people come along to learn practical, life-saving skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. From recognising a cardiac emergency to learning how to perform CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), participants walked away feeling more confident and prepared to step in when it matters most.

A big thank you as well to Diggers Miranda RSL ClubGRANTS for supporting the event and helping make these free community training sessions possible. Support from local organisations, venue staff, and volunteers plays a huge part in helping us bring this kind of education into the community.

A special thank you also goes to everyone who attended and participated so enthusiastically. Seeing residents invest their time in learning these skills is a reminder of how strong and connected our community is.

These were some of the great moments across the sessions, and we loved seeing everyone getting involved and having a go.

The feedback from attendees has been incredibly positive, and we’re grateful for all the kind words shared after the training. A couple of comments from participants included:

"As a school teacher, I have undergone regular CPR training. However I have never felt confident and have always quipped that in a situation I would be the organiser rather than the doer. This session is by far the best I have ever attended and for the first time I feel a degree of confidence in the whole process. Thank you."

-L.G.

"I learnt a great deal from the night now I feel confident to be able to assist in any emergency and also it was a lot of fun thank you."

-W.S.

"I loved this course. It was informative and hands-on. The stats and data was very interesting. The session allowed for lots of CPR and defib practice. I feel confident delivering CPR and using a defib."

-N.M.

"An excellent session.  Instructors instilled confidence and activities were done in a very supportive atmosphere.  The background information was compelling.  The testimony of the survivor was inspiring."

-G.D.

And we’re not stopping here, more free community AED & CPR training sessions are coming soon at other venues with the support of additional community organisations.
