Lifesaving Value of AEDs in Patrol Cars

Lifesaving Value of AEDs in Patrol Cars

When a 60-year-old man went into cardiac arrest at a family fun center in Saginaw County, Michigan, a sheriff’s deputy was at his side within minutes with an AED Plus®.

Fortunately, two people were already performing CPR on the victim.

When Deputy Ian Davies hooked up the AED Plus, it advised a shock. And thanks to the quick response of bystanders and the AED, the man is alive today.

Increasingly, patrol cars are the first to arrive on the scene of an emergency and having AEDs available increases the chances of saving a life.

Now the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department is in a quest to equip all 28 vehicles in its department with AEDs.

It currently has six in vehicles. Sheriff William Federspiel says he’ll do whatever he has to do to get more AEDs for his department.
