What Is PlusTrac And Why Use It?
PlusTrac helps manage your AED (Automated External Defibrillator) compliance through regular upkeep of:
- AED Inspections
- Site Compliance
- Consumable Compliance
- Responder Compliance
You’ll quickly notice in PlusTrac that Green is good!! and Red needs attention!!
PlusTrac communicates via email to your site coordinator if compliance needs to be addressed. The site coordinator is usually set as your site/organisation name and email address. Emails are escalated when compliance remains unactioned.
Each AED unit requires a PlusTrac licence.
PlusTrac is user friendly and requires minimal attention by AED compliant sites.

How To Do An AED Inspection
Go to ‘Check AEDs’
Your AED performs a self test once a week and communicates a Pass or Fail result via a visual status indicator on the AED and an intermittent audible prompt for attention. A failed AED inspection requires your urgent attention!!
An AED with Wi-Fi communicates the self test result to PlusTrac and automatically updates the ‘Last Inspected’ date in Check AEDs. If this communication is not successful, PlusTrac will notify the site coordinator by email and request a visual check of your AED and the status to be updated in PlusTrac. Once the AED is inspected, update ‘Check AEDs’ by clicking on either the Pass image or Fail image. (Remembering that a Fail requires urgent attention.)
TIP: ‘Last Inspected’ date will update once the page is refreshed. Date format is MM/DD/YYYY.
TIP: A weekly visual inspection of your AED is recommended to check the status indicator confirms the unit has passed the self test, pads are in date, the unit does not look tampered with and is located where it should be!
How To Check AED, Site, Consumable And Responder Compliance
Go to ‘Home’
The aim here is to have the four AED compliance indicators all presenting as green! Green is good!! Red needs attention!!
Click on a left or right arrow to scroll through and check AED compliance for:
- AED Inspections (Equipment tab)
- Site Compliance (Sites tab)
- Consumable Compliance (Equipment tab)
- Responder Compliance (Training tab)
TIP: Clicking on the green (or red, not good!) filled circle takes you to the related blue side tab (Equipment, Sites, Training) for more detailed information. Check and immediately address anything that presents red.

How To Enter And Manage People Trained In CPR & AED
Go To ‘Training’
This is the responders area which allows you to manage the individual people trained in CPR & AED at your sites.
You are aiming to see that each responder profile bar presents with a;
- green ‘Compliant’ indicator AND
- red AED heart (in this case red is good!!)
TIP: Enter a minimum of two responders in PlusTrac.
TIP: Click the large blue down arrow to expand individual responder information, training type and training expiry date.
TIP: Use ‘Update Responders’ to update an existing responders training or to add a new responder.
TIP: ‘Edit’ allows you to adjust a responders profile BUT NOT their training status. Use ‘Update Responders’ for training updates.
Example of what we DON’T want to see!
‘Expired Certification’ – this needs attention, responders need to be updated.
Let’s take a closer look at ‘Update Responders’.
PlusTrac requires four responses in order to complete responder registration;
- What site were the responders trained for?
- What certification did your responders receive training in?
- When does this certification expire?
- Who was trained?
1. What site were the responders trained for?
Select your site from the drop down menu.
2. What certification did your responders receive training in?
From the drop down menu select the type of training/certification received (select one).
Following is a suggested list to help achieve a green ‘Compliant’ indicator AND a red AED heart. This represents a CPR & AED trained responder on site;
- CPR/AED – 1 Year
- CPR/AED – 2 Year
- CPR/AED – 3 Year
- CPR/AED/First Aid – 1 Year
- CPR/AED/First Aid – 2 Year
- CPR/AED/First Aid – 3 Year
- HLTAID001 – CPR/AED 1yr
- HLTAID003 – First Aid 3yr
Some form of CPR & AED training is recommended on a yearly basis.
3. When does this Certification expire?
Using the date pad that appears, add the expiry date of the selected certification/training.
First select the YEAR, then the MONTH and the DAY last. Enter the expiry date (future date) NOT the training date.
4. Who was trained?
Try to enter at least two people that were trained.
Click on ‘New Responder’. From the drop down menu select either ‘New Responder’ (in blue) or select an existing responders name to update their certification. Once selected click ‘Add’. For a new responder enter their First Name, Last Name and Unique Identifier. For an existing team member, these details will automatically populate the spaces. You are able to add multiple people for the same training entry. (Be mindful of the page timing out!)
TIP: The Responders ‘Unique Identifier’ could be a USI, staff number, initials or simply their name.
The page will update once ‘Register Responders’ is selected and the page is refreshed.
Emails And Notifications From PlusTrac
Go To ‘Inbox’
Email notifications from PlusTrac will be sent to the site coordinator. These emails/notifications can also be found in PlusTrac in the ‘Inbox’ tab, which presents with a number, referring to unread mail.
Another way to access these notifications is via the top blue bar, where a small numbered box appears in green (or red, which indicates unread mail)
Where To Find Information About AED Expiry Dates
Go To ‘Equipment’
This is where all your AED information is available and equipment compliance is indicated. Including but not limited to;
- AED Brand & image of AED
- AED serial Number
- Battery serial number
- Remaining battery capacity or expiry date
- Pad expiry date
- Site & location of AED unit
- AED Status (green is good!)
PlusTrac will send notification when the AED battery is approaching expiry or battery capacity low. A new battery should be organised without delay.
PlusTrac will send notification when AED pads are approaching expiry. New pads should be organised without delay.
Where To Find Your PlusTrac Admin
Go To ‘Users’
Your PlusTrac account administrators will appear here.
Each site should have a ‘Site Coordinator’ (Roles) where all email notifications will be sent.
The site coordinator is usually set as your site/organisation name and email address. (Emails are escalated when compliance remains unactioned.)
TIP: Your PlusTrac account details can be accessed by clicking on the person icon, to the right of your PlusTrac search bar.
AED Location Site Details
Go To ‘Sites’

The AED status, AED consumables and responder compliance are all shown here indicating overall site compliance.
